To maintain the appearance of pearls, you should avoid contact with perfume, hairsprays, cosmetics and perspiration. Pearls are porous, so it is best to keep exposure from moisture, to a minimum. Wiping them over with a soft, dry cloth will help to maintain their lustre. If pearls are strung onto silk thread, remember that this will wear & become weaker over the years.
